Africa Haguruka is an international Christian gathering with a mission to inspire Africans in the continent and the diaspora to lead Christ-centered lives and contribute to the spiritual, social, and economic transformation of Africa. As part of its commitment to this mission, Africa Haguruka is organizing a Business Forum with the theme "Doing Business with Diligence and Integrity as Christians" on November 17, 2023.

This forum aims to demonstrate how we must radically change our ‘work ethic’ in the sphere of business as Christians to create a positive influence in the 21st-century business landscape.

In a world where economic activities are often driven by profit maximization, quick gratification, fraudulent deals, cyber-crimes, and self-interest, the world needs to see the difference that Christian-led businesses can make.
Unfortunately, many Christians generally shun doing business because of the belief that it is the pursuit of worldly things, and as a result the majority are poor. Even those who attempt to do business do not work hard enough to show a difference in excellence. The Bible admonishes us to work hard with our hands (Proverbs 10:4 “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth”).

Furthermore, businesses that are known to have and practice the values of integrity win customer loyalty. Therefore, conducting businesses with integrity can give Christian-led businesses a competitive edge, enable growth and above all demonstrate our Christ-like character to the world. Moral and ethical standards characterize what was taught by Jesus Christ.

In the context of Africa, where there are economic challenges, businesses and nations can build a culture based on ethical business practices but it all begins with individual Christians understanding and practicing radically doing that which is right.
